To be honnest I'm not so fond on markets, I don't like so many people around me.
But I did go to the choco festival last year, only the stormy weather put some rain in
the choco! I had a really nice hand scrub and massage with choco!! Really nice!
And if I go to the market, I go to drink some coffee at 'van Wessel', they serve

So this wedding tradition is definitely English,

and many sources say that it began in the Victorian era.

To be honest I did not know about this tradition!

I guess it is not a common thing to do in the Netherlands,

or people around me did not bother about this!!

And there are not many weddings around me,

if people do get married it is often a small wedding!

YES! Last Saturday I run 5,77 kilometer in about 45 minutes!

I'm very proud of myself! A While ago I showed a piece of

my little notebook; When I grow up I want to be me;

and my goal for in 2012 was to be able to run 5 km [ inside the gym].

Storks, crocus, no ice skating, warm weather....

This is January for me this year! It has not been a real
winter yet, no crispy cold weather with a nice winter sun,

no snow to sled in, no frozen water for ice skating....
I did see the storks very early and together! I did see small
flowers coming up and they are usely here when the spring is
coming a bit more....so that is January, and I'm a bit late
for this week theme....I think the storks has taken me back,

and I wanted to paint them, that took a while!

Astrid and Sofia thought they are doing very well with them twirl in Ballet,

after days and days of practicing! They were feeling very proud on them self!

Astrid and Sofia took ballet lessons at the Ballet School of Ballet.

Most of the dancers are tiny elegant looking mouses.

Of course the tiny elegant mouses thought it was absolutely ridiculous that those

two big girls could join them classes too. But if they were honest,

and luckily they were, they thought that the twirl of Astrid and Sofia

were very nice and well done!

This week subject is black & white, at friday the 13th I have

written in my 'picture-thinking-dairy' I CAN, because the next

day I had 'half' an exam [ the next half will be in June].

And I had great difficulty with the learning all the medical therms.

I was kind of thinking in black & white, so I have written for myself: I CAN.

I started last year, well the last day of December with a notebook for myself.

Laatste RRN.....

De laatste RRN boekje heb ik pas op de post gedaan voor Supersoesje!! Wat een dik boekje was dat, op het laatst was het echt passen en meten en friemelen!! Het was weer erg leuk om te doen. Afgelopen zaterdag was er een kleine bijeenkomst bij Hoepzika, ik was al onderweg, maar vrijdag voelde ik mij al emorm snotterig en wazig en vooral SPIERPIJN, dat werd zaterdag niet minder. Helaas halverwege naar huis gegaan met bovenstaande cadeautjes in mijn tas. Die zijn op met de post gegaan, een klein afscheids-bedank-presentje! En nu ................................................geduldig wachten totdat mijn boekje weer bij mij is....

The last RRN book I have done it on the post to Supersoesje!! What a real thick book, at the last moment it was fitting and 'friemelen'. It was great fun to do. Last Saturday there was a small gathering at Hoepzika, I was on my way to her, but last Friday all ready I felt sick, having a cold and seeing not clear and especially PAIN in my MUSCLE, what did not get less either at Saturday.
So I went home instead with small presents in my back. I sended them with the mail, a small goodbye-thank-you-present! And now ..........I have to wait patiently until my little book is with me again.........

The first thing I thought of that being together with a group, you can feel

so lonely... Yesterday I was in Winterswijk ( in east Netherlands, nearby

German border 'Achterhoek') and I saw a group of kids ice skating.

Straight away I had to think of this weeks theme!
Sometimes it is hard to see the person who feels lonely,
maybe she or he just keeps on smiling and pretending nothing is going on,
from the outside you cannot see the persons inside.
I wanted to take a photo of the ice skating in town,

but sometimes I feel so inspired by other artist [ see here ~klik~]
so I decided to make a little sketch!!

I think this time of the year gives me joy!

I love the time of Sinterklaas.

[ Sinterklaas (or more formally Sint Nicolaas or Sint Nikolaas; Saint Nicolas in French; Sankt Nikolaus in German) is a traditional Winter holiday figure still celebrated today in the Low Countries, including the Netherlands and Belgium, as well as French Flanders (Lille) and Artois (Arras). He is also well known in territories of the former Dutch Empire, including South Africa, Aruba, Suriname, Curaçao, Bonaire, and Indonesia. He is one of the sources of the holiday figure of Santa Claus in North America.]

Usually we make poems and surprise gifts and usually we celebrate it with family.

Only not this year, somehow we did not do it this time, but maybe next year again!

I like looking for the presents and making the poem and also a surprise for the person I'll get.

[Poems can still accompany bigger gifts as well. Instead of such gifts being brought by Sinterklaas, family members may draw names for an event comparable to Secret Santa. Gifts are to be creatively disguised (for which the Dutch use the French word "surprise"), and are usually accompanied by a humorous poem which often teases the recipient for well-known bad habits or
other character deficiencies.]

made scratched on the paper, so I started a new one; here a little piece, what gives me joy too!

I think my cat is a very good item for a different corner, because he always has

a different corner to just be, he sees things from a different corner than me.

Here he, Siepie [ his name] is sleeping above the heating on a windowsill under

the dining table near the window [ so he can have a look to his friends].

To be honest I did not know this word....and when I looked it up it seems to be an other word for statue??
Well I hope so, because thinking of that I went with my mind to Camille Claudel....She was a grand woman and really made great iconic's [ hope that I write this okay!! ]

Bit of history: Camille was born on 8 December 1864 – 19 October 1943 and she was a French sculptor and graphic artist. She was the elder sister of the poet and diplomat Paul Claudel.
Camille Claudel, 1864 - 1943, was a French sculptor and graphic artist.
In 1882 the sculptor Auguste Rodin agreed to supervise a small group of young women students, one of whom was the seventeen-year-old Camille Claudel. Auguste and Camille fell in love almost at first sight. Within a few years, however, it appears that Rodin exhausted her, demanding all her time and energy in his service.
By the time she broke off the relationship, in or around 1893, she had become anxious to escape Rodin's overwhelming influence and devote herself exclusively to her own art.

I think she has made great, filled with feelings sculpture, and well.... if my view this time is not really the word iconic, than I'm still be pleased to share such a great woman!!

....een klein wit konijn op bezoek bij mij....hij gaat op avontuur....vandaag kwam de fotograaf Frans Rentink langs om foto´s te maken van konijn en van mij. Er zit een boekje bij met de titel `reis met mij mee´, volg de rode draad in je leven en laat de rode draad ook, want je leven is een reis niet een bestemming....
Deze illustratie gaat naar de kunstveiling voor het hospice in Zutphen.
....a small white bunny came to visit me...he goes on a journey...today the photographe Frans Rentink came to make photo´s of the bunny and me. There will be a handmade little book with the titel: 'travel with me', follow the red threat in your life and leave the red threat too, because your life is a journey not a destination....
This illustration goes to the occion for the hospice in Zutphen.

I noticed that I have 19 different kind of postcards in my house (even a bit more, but they are sold out!!).
They are made by myself!! I love to illustrate and paint to doodling around!

For my birthday last week I wanted to give a set of 19 away.
Today I have decided to give a set to the people in the Netherlands and.....to give a set abroad --> Europe, America, Australia, Azia or whatever abroad!

afscheid round robin in zwolle

Met veel plezier hebben we de boekjes geopend!! Helaas kon niet de hele groep er zijn...maar Marjolein, Hoepzika, Linda en Arnika heb ik ontmoet bij de De Mandarijn in Zwolle. Ik vond het een groot succes, veel raak vlakken (al is het alleen al met de creativiteit!!) en erg gezellig met een goede lunch erbij!
Het was zo leuk om mijn boekje weer terug te zien en al de dromen te lezen en te bekijken, dank jullie wel voor jullie prachtige inzet, creaties en energie die er in is gestopt!!
With lot of pleasure we have opened the books! Unfortanitaly the whole group could not join this little party...but I have met Marjolein, Hoepzika, Linda and Arnika at De Mandarijn in Zwolle. It was a great succes, with lot of common things (we all make nice creations!!) and it was very cozy with a good lunch! It was a great pleasure to see my book again, to read all the dreams, thank you all for the effort, creations and energy!!!

In Dutch we can play with the word "beterschap" (get well), I have made it as "beterschaap" (get well sheep). It is not tranlotable, but with one -a more I get a sheep! This sheep is the remedy if you are ill!!

Voor het eerst doe ik mee met de sketchbookproject!! De thema die ik heb gekozen is: "travel with me". Ik maak er een soort van verhaaltje van over een klein wit konijntje. Aangezien ik toch een beetje in de konijnensfeer was de laatste tijd! ~De website van Arthouse is onder constructie, de link naar mijn blog doet het niet en ik kan geen foto's neer zetten!~

For the first time I have joined the sketchbookproject!! The theme I have choisen is: "travel with me". I will make a kind of story about this little white rabbit. Vandaag ben ik 43, sinds 2:30 deze ochtend!

Dit wil ik vieren met een kleine give away. De laatste tijd heb ik best wel veel kaarten (ik denk 16) hier in huis. De winnaar wil ik graag een heel setje kado doen!

Bij moois van me een geweldige kleurrijke give away gewonnen!!

Prachtig en dan ook nog eens wat extra's gekregen; 3 mooie

kaarten, ik was helemaal overrompeld!!! WAUW!! Dank je wel 'me'!

By 'moois van me' I won a beautiful colorful give away!!
Absolutly stunning and I got as extra; 3 great cards, I was

totaly blown away!!! WOW!! Thank you 'me'!

En deze week heb ik bij de gemeente Deventer stoelmassage

gegeven (dat doe ik naast mijn illustraties!), de vrouw die dit

had georganiseerd het had zo leuk aangekleed voor mijn

collega en mij, met kaarsjes, muziek, sapjes, appels, een mooie poster

ik word er nog steeds helemaal blij van!!

And this week I went to Deventer to give chairmassage
( I also do that beside my illustrations!), the woman who

had organized this really did a fantastic job for my colleague and me;
there were vanilla candles, juice, apples, music, a great poster,
all very warm and cozy! I still feel happy with this!

Een meneer reed achteruit, ik toeteren en toch reed hij door!

Kleine deuk, stuk voorlamp en grote schrik....ik heb mijn buurman

gebeld en die kwam meteen! Dank je wel buurman!

Also this week I had a small car accident....

A man went backwards, I blow the horn and he just went on!

A small bump, broken frontlight and big scare....
I have called my neighbour and he cane straight

away! Thank you my neighbour!

Monkey's!! Baby deathhead (doodshoofdaapje) monkey, my daughter behind the scene....feeding the monkey's!! I got my new RRN book at home, but somehow I cannot find the photo!
We went this week to the 'apenheul' and there were many baby monkeys to see! My daughter was lucky because she knows a person who is working intern there for his education, so he asked her: do you want to feed the monkeys? Well, than there is only one answer: YES!! So she did!

And I'm connected to 'kaartje2go', I have to make at least 100 designs....yes!!!! So I have made this wedding design and on my profile at kaartje2go I have added one more new one!!

En bij Moois van Me I have won her give away!!! Thank you, I'm very happy with me new set of coasters. I can make a choise between red and white or red and color, and as you maybe have seen in my artwork...I like colors!! So I will choise the colors one! Have a look at her blog, she really makes nice things!

I was thinking about a positive thought and 'walking' aound on the internet, I noticed this song with this great animation! Some how it felt postive and it somehow describes it how I can feel it!
For me is a positive thought that the glass is half filled!! For me I can look to all what I don't have in my life or......I can look / feel and deepen in what I all ready have! I prefer the last one, I rather go deeper and explore what I all ready have ( and no, the grass is not greener at the neighbours!!!)

....zag ik mijzelf en vandaag, morgen en zondag naar de Cranio Sacraal opleiding gaan van Peirsman ( zie foto, hij is de oprichter van deze opleiding die ik al een tijdje volg). Nu een module over "diepspierwerk" maar de docent noemt het niet zo maar; "Fascia en Psoas dynamic", deze techniek is vooral fijn voor zwangere vrouwen met problemen met hun bekken! De docent vroeg ons - nadat wij hadden gezegt dat we ons goed voelen- "Hoe voelt goed voelen?" Nou daar mag je vandaag over na gaan denken!! Een fijne vrijdag met een zonnetje hier in het oosten en voor nog meer deze week zag ik: klikkerdeklikps...ik heb mijn website vernieuwd!! Neem een kijkje! www.susi-art.nl

.... and I saw myself today, tomorrow and Sunday at the academy of training for Cranio Sacral at the school of Peirsman (see photo, he is the founder of this program that I follow now for a while). Now a module on "deep muscle work," but the teacher calls it does not call it this but; "Fascia and Psoas dynamic ", this technique is especially good for pregnant women with problems with their hips structure (sorry forgot the name here!)! The teacher asked us - after we had said that we feel good - "How feels feel good?" well, there you may think about it today! On one wall I have a wall of Art!! A friend told me to show my art for myself so I get inspired to make more art work and guess what? It worked out for me!! So on my wall some older art with pastel, mixed media, some art of my daughter, a photo of my daughter when she was young with a snail on her nose, some newer art and yes...you can still see some party garlands from my daughter's birthday, why? Because soon it will be mine and I'm a bit lazy, so every year we have for one month party garlands hanging around the walls!!

Ik ....eh....Siepie....staat achterop het kattenblad Majesteit (helaas loopt hun blog nogal achter)! Dankzij Anne Versteyne met haar De kat zijn viool! Ik kwam bij haar terecht omdat ik op zoek was naar een boek en nieuwsgierig dat ik was heb ik verder gekeken bij haar website en ze maakt erg leuke kunstwerken! Zij was ook nieuwsgierig naar mijn website en ze zag bij mij Siepie (die hier al veel avonturen heeft beleefd!). En nu mag Siepie op de achterkant van Majesteit door heel Nederland pronken!!
Ik voel mij heel trots!

the only tea time I can think of is the English high tea! With hot-cross buns,
scones, little sandwiches, clotted cream, jam, some small chocolate

...and ....of course the TEA!! The tea has to be special made, first you boil some water and

with the boiled water you WARM the tea pot first!!! yes, never, never ever just put a tea bag

in the tea pot and put water on top!!!! Always warm the tea pot first with hot water, after that

you take of course the English blend tea and than you do the tea bag and water in the tea pot!

And when you are ready for your cup of tea.....please put first the tea in and than a little cloud of milk!

Afgelopen weekend weg geweest, via uit-je-tent, een kampeerweekend

op de bodem van de zee!! Ooit had By Kris een link neer gezet op haar

blog en ik had mij meteen aangemeld! Ik ben bij het bamboebos geweest

van Sjaak; die een bamboekwekerij heeft - Indo Suka-.

Heeeeeel veeeeel haaarrrrr.....en daaronder een kleine pony terwijl ik de Berkelvalei route (een stukje) wandelde! Tja....dat meisje met haar wilde haren die met haar speelgoed pony speelt zat daar eigenlijk niet in het echt, maar wel in mijn fantasie!
Lot and lots andlots of hair..........and underneath a small pony while I was walking the Berkelvalei route (a little part of it). and.....the girl with her wild hair playing with her toy pony, she was not accentually there, but she was in my fantasy!

En een rode Deense koe die een grote omhelsing van een klein meisje krijgt! Op de achtergrond aan de linkerkant is een typische oude Deense boerderij en aan de rechterkant is een klein stukje dorp --ligt helemaal noord in Jutland-- Skagen. Dit schilderij ging naar Betina in Denemarken vanwege een voetoperatie.
And a Danish red cow getting a big hug from a little girl! On the background on the left a typical old Danish farmhouse and on the right a little village --normal this village is far north in Jutland-- named: Skagen. This artwork went to my friend Betina in Dane-mark, who had a foot operation.

They had so much fun going on them safari trip! Of course they did not know what they will see or meet at the safari, so some of them had put on some green clothes...you never know!! Only Elsa is daydreaming with about meeting the hippo!

Years ago, I was a teenager, my father gave me a book as present. It it written by a Dutch writer and it is called: "The book of Bod Pa". The story is in Mongolia at the time of Marco Polo. Bod Pa is an elusive character: a shaman without signs of dignity what was in his time common : were chains, mice skulls, tufts of grass, bird claws and feathers. But he is invariably accompanied by a raven and a wolf. He is a blind goblin disfigured devils with something, often a drunken 'potatoes gnome.
The shaman is summoned by the father of Perregrin, a fourteen-year-old shepherd boy whose broken leg just will not heal. Initially Perregrin wants nothing to do with Bid Pa, but the shaman gradually gaining confidence. He is Perregrins guru, though the boy never completely won. Perregrin by persistent bid Pa Pilgrim called strangers in their own country, viewfinder own soul.

Some words between Bod Pa and Perregrin:

"Can something exist only because we have invented?"
"That way everything can exist."
"If you only know."
--because it is Dutch and so far I know not translated in english, I have explained it a bit--
But anyway......ever since I have red this book my dream is:
I want to got to Mongolia!!!!!

Since there was something wrong with Blogger, I have lost the post for Illustration Friday Beginner. So here again!
Paul is just starting to walk on his own, before his mom could stop him he walked straight to the mare and her foal. The foal is also a beginner of walking around in his life! Lucky for little Paul the mare is very friendly and gentle!

Motion.....I think of Mickey Mouse and his first black and white movies!!

This was actually Mickey's debut cartoon--but it wasn't the first one the world saw because it was originally made as a silent, and Walt Disney couldn't get a distributor for it. Only when he and his team got the idea to create a sound cartoon (Steamboat Willie) did he get a distributor and get it booked. Steamboat Willie, which was a parody of a live action Buster Keaton film, was an instant hit--and Disney went back and put a soundtrack on Plane Crazy, which also became a hit.

Success Expositie!!

Impressie van een deel van mijn expositie: mijn hoekje.

Zien jullie de bloemen daar in het hoekje?

Monique Philippo (organisator Two Day Gallery) zei tegen mij: ja er is een verassing voor jouw! Ik dacht: verassing? Ik vond het al van mijzelf een hele verassing dat ik mijzelf zo durfde te laten zien!!! Waren er twee broers uit het westen over gekomen!!! Super leuk, dank jullie wel! Zelf was ik er zaterdag tot 14:30 erbij, daarna gewerkt; ook zondag. Maar volgens Monique waren er belangstellenden....leuk!! Voor mij smaakt dit naar meer.........!!!

Monique Philippo ( organised the Two Day Gallery) said to me: yes, there is a surprise for you! I thought: surprise? Well I all ready thought it was a surprise of myself that I was showing myself!!! Two of my brothers has stopped by, they came from the west ( I live in the east)!!! Great, thank you! I was Saturday at the gallery until 14:30, I had to work after that, also on Sunday. But Monique told met that there were pople interesting in my work...great!! For me this taste for more..........!!!

De expositie te voorschijn komen!!! Ik heb al wat opgehangen....en veel heen en weer gegaan, dan vergat ik dit en dan vergat ik dat....!! Mocht je dit weekend in Zutphen zijn, loop dan even naar de Laarstraat 19-21.
De opening is zaterdag om 11 uur, zelf ben ik er van 11 tot ongeveer 14 uur!!
The expo coming more and more closer!! I have some of my paintings on the wall now....and I went a lot back and forward, I forgot this and that....!! So, if you are by any change in Zutphen, walk to the Laarstraat 19-21. It will open saturday at 11, I'll be there form 11 to until nearly 14 hour!!

Illustration Friday "Lesson"

For me every time when I'm drawing or painting it is a lesson, a joyful lessen! Every time I learn something extra, how to draw a chicken or a cow, how to draw people....and especially drawing people is a big lesson for me!! I find it much easier to draw animals than to do people! So it is every time a challenge!
Even those three girls in the painting lesson at the art school find it difficult to paint this guy....or may be he is to handsome so the prefer to watch him more than to paint him? Who knows.... may be you?

I use to live close by the sea, Schoorl, Bergen, Camperduin or ~as on the photo~ in Petten. All those towns are in Noord-Holland. It used to be a little crowded there, but those days it is really crowded!! I have grown up nearby the sea, and as a teenager I went a lot to the beach, or just cycling in the dunes.
At this moment there are many fires there, put on by people.....distryoing a great and beautiful nature....

With the easterdays I went to my family, they all still leave around this area! We had a lot of fun and for me.....well once in a while it is nice to feel the sea water and the sand and we even saw a seal!!!

Koning-in Siepie dag / Queensday

Gisteren was het Koning-in dag in Nederland, Siepie voelde zich heel royaal en hij kreeg veel aandacht. Siepiekaart met ja...oranje tulp was de best verkochte kaart!!

Er gingen zelfs twee doosjes weg --> Moederdag!!

Iedereen vond mijn "boek" mooi, met allemaal afbeeldingen van kunstwerken van mij. Er werd zelfs gevraagd of dit boek te koop was, want het waren zulke prachtige beeldende verhalen!!

Yesterday it was queensday in Holland, Siepie felt himself very royal and he got a lot of attention. The Siepiecard with yes...the ornage tulip was the best sold card!!

I even sold two litlle boxes --> Mothersday!!

Everybody liked my "book" with all artwork from me. One person asked or the book was for sale, because of the story-telling illustrations in it!!

Oh in Dutch you write King or Queen nearly the same...so in Dutch I could make a word-game from it, but unfortunately I could not translate it....

Giethoorn!!

With a freind I went to this water village, they have special farmhouses, called "kamelenrug" (Camelback) because of the shape of the farm. Some farms have litlle hearts in the blinds!

Some information about Giethoorn:

Giethoorn is a village in the Dutch province of Overijssel. It is located in the municipality of Steenwijkerland, about 5 km southwest of Steenwijk. Giethoorn used to be a carfree town known in the Netherlands as "Venice of the North" or "Venice of the Netherlands". It became famous, especially after 1958, when the Dutch film maker Bert Haanstra made his famous comedy "Fanfare" there. Therefore, Giethoorn is an internationally well-known tourist attraction in the Netherlands. In the old part of the village, there were no roads (nowadays there is a cycling path), and all transport was done by water over one of the many canals. The lakes in Giethoorn were formed by peat unearthing.
